GOALS

The Deutschkurse bei der Universität München e.V., together with the Law Faculty of the university, LMU Munich, offers courses on "Introduction to German Law Language" (Einführung in die deutsche Rechtssprache). The courses assist in improving language proficiency in connection with the studies of international students and academics in this field.

TARGET GROUP

• LL.M. Students, who are going to begin their studies in Munich during the winter semester
• Exchange students, Erasmus and other special program students, who are going to begin their studies during the winter semester of each year

THEMES AND CONTENT

Specialist language structures in the following areas:

• Law studies in Germany
• Law studies at the LMU
• Methods in law, types of texts and learning implements (textbooks, commentaries, legislative texts, law journals, law dictionaries)
• Basic concepts in civil law, public law, criminal law

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Evidence of German-language proficiency, Level B1/B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
